| Demonstrative models are used to tell a story or present a
concept. The cost of a model is determined by the level of detail involved. To that end
many levels of detail may be used in the same model to emphasize certain points yet meet a
budget requirement. |
| For instance, in a sales model, the featured product is usually done in
some detail, possibly to the point of "forcing the scale" or making some
features larger than rigorous scale would dictate to emphasize an important selling point. |
| In the case of demonstrative evidence used in litigation, scale must be
rigorously observed. However, the level of detail for non-pertinent features may be lower
or even omitted. |
| The photo above illustrates a fully detailed model. These models can be
used to create a kind of "virtual reality". In fact, these types of models were
actually used to create "animated" videos by moving the model elements in a sort
of "stop action" videography. As video and digital technology improves, it may
be possible to actually take a video camera right down to the surface of a module and
recreate motions of vehicles and individuals in scenario reenactments with a budget less
than modern "Star Wars" movie. |
